THE APPROACH

Leadership is not either/or. It never was.

Most leadership models push people toward extremes. Relentless execution without reflection. Endless introspection without action. Head or heart. Strength or care. Ambition or integrity. humanKIND works in the space those false choices leave empty.

There is an architecture inside every leader that has been there the whole time. Three dimensions — Being, Knowing, and Doing — that move together when you are leading from the truth of who you are. They are not a sequence to move through, and not a model to master. They are how leadership actually lives and breathes when you allow your whole humanity to surface. The work is remembering how to lead from there. When all three orient toward the same place — Source, the most honest and grounded expression of who you are — leadership stops feeling like a role and starts feeling like a life.

What gets in the way is not absence. It is obstruction: the accumulated layers of performance, adopted preference, and prescribed action the world taught us to call Being, Knowing, and Doing. When those substitutes are cleared, what remains is not something new. It is what was always yours.

How coaching typically works

The work has a name. It's called Source Work.

Source Work is the practice of coaching that begins with the leader's own source — who they actually are, what they actually know, and what is actually theirs to build. Not what the role requires. Not what the organization has been rewarding. Who you actually are, underneath all of it.

Most coaching starts with the presenting challenge and works outward. Source Work starts with the person and works outward from there. The difference in what gets built is significant.

The long arc holds the context. The present moment holds the work.

Every engagement is designed around the individual — there is no fixed program or prescribed path. The arc typically moves through three phases.

Months 1–2
Foundational work.
The Foundational Source Mapping Session, three Source Map Deepening Sessions, and the first draft of your Source Map — the living document that becomes the foundation of everything that follows.
Months 2–6
Integration & Action.
Bi-weekly Integration & Action Sessions where your Source Map meets the real decisions of your leadership — translated into aligned action, built toward your vision and goals.
Throughout
Between-session support.
Email and voice memo support between sessions. Response within one business day. Not coaching by chat — connective tissue between sessions.

The methodology is human-centred design applied to the leader's interior. The same discipline James brought to twenty-five years of brand strategy work — starting with what is actually true about the person at the centre before deciding what to build — turned toward the leader rather than the organization. It moves quickly because the leverage is real. The work is foundational, and the foundational work changes everything that rests on it.

In some engagements the iEQ9 Enneagram Professional Assessment is incorporated to deepen self-awareness — used as a starting point for reflection, not as a label.
